Year Zero
Because Matt Springer demanded it! Well, kind of.
Here’s another comic strip I did, more than a decade ago, when I did comic strips as part of my art school days, thinking that one day I could become a cartoonist for a living (Oh, how swiftly life beat that dream out of me). Reading it back now, I can see all the things I don’t like – the too obvious influences, the emo-ness, the fact that I didn’t keep a copy of the color files, for some reason – far too easily, but I have to admit, there’s still something about this that I like.
I made lots of mini-comics full of stories like this, back then, and gave them to people and sold some to people. Sometimes, I wonder where they all ended up.

I still have “My Ill Day” around here somewhere. Never read that one before though. And now I’ll have 12 Reasons Why running through my head, unless I’ve got the wrong end of the stick.
Honest to god, G-Dawg, I’m not just saying this as someone who’s written for you, or as your time-zone-dislocated electronic pal you’ve never met, but honest to god?
You really ought to be doing more art. More comics, even. But definitely more art.
I hope you find some time inamongst all your other myriad concerns to do some more comics, someday.

I co-sign this sentiment.
yeah, I agree with the last two.
I dig this auto-bio Harvey Pekar sentimentality dressed up in a cousin of David Mack artwork. I’m sure its something that indy publishers would like.

I’m nothing if not responsive…
I like this one too, although the story/text is a bit too self-aware and eager in terms of the whole “I just got laid” motif.
My favorite parts are where you go all abstract–that final panel, or the whole of page 2. Even the lead male’s head in panel 1 has this weird demonic look about it. I think they’re neat visuals. It may be cause I don’t know who you’re swiping influence from but I think it’s a pretty unique style that has some potential.
also I’m Matt Springer, not Singer; I think he’s someone else.
